The Buhl Police Department began when J.H. Schooler was appointed as the Marshall for the newly formed Village of Buhl, Idaho in July, 1908. Over the next one hundred years, the department grew in size with the growth of the village, which became the City of Buhl in 1917. After incorporation as a city, Buhl named T.I. Dennis the first Chief of Police, and we have had 5 Marshalls, 20 Chiefs of Police, and 2 Interim Chiefs of Police.
If you have pictures or stories about our departmental history, please send them our way. We would love to post them here on our website.
