LCpl. SRO Officer Haley Brown

School Resource Officer Program

School Resource Officers (SRO) are committed to providing a safe campus and environment for teachers and students. Along with providing enhanced security, SROs are also dedicated to positively impacting students by investing in their lives in various ways.

SROs work with the Buhl School District to provide students with important messages about bullying, cyberbullying, alcohol and drug abuse, internet and chat room safety, bicycle helmet safety, and more. They also serve as a positive role model to students through coaching and mentoring to help them make good choices and learn about the consequences of negative behavior.

SRO Responsibilities

The SRO is a resource for faculty and staff in crime prevention and developing security measures to make campuses safer.

As a law enforcement officer, the SRO responds to all types of offenses on campus, takes reports, and investigates criminal crimes involving youth, both on and off campus, acting as the first responding investigator and an expert in juvenile law. School Resource Officers enforce law violations only and do not enforce school rules, nor is their presence used to “persuade” compliance.

The Buhl Police Department is proud of the partnership created through the SRO program and the positive impact it has on faculty, teachers, students, and parents.

If you have any questions or issues or need additional information about the SRO program, don’t hesitate to contact the Buhl Police Department at (208) 543-4200.
