The Code Enforcement Officer plays a vital role in maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and character of our city. This position ensures that local laws are followed and that public health, neighborhood standards, and animal welfare are upheld.

As a Code Enforcement Officer, responsibilities span across both property-related and animal-related matters:
Enforcing city codes related to land use, sanitation, zoning, and public safety
Managing animal control and welfare within city limits
Promoting a well-maintained, safe, and unified community for all
📋 Key Responsibilities
🏚️ Code Enforcement & Property Inspections
Inspect properties for compliance with zoning, sanitation, and building codes
Identify and document violations
Issue notices and follow through with enforcement
🐶 Animal Control & Public Safety
Handle stray or aggressive animal reports
Enforce leash laws, licensing, and vaccination requirements
Promote humane and responsible pet ownership
🔍 Investigation & Documentation
Investigate code and animal-related complaints
Document findings with reports, photos, and evidence
Prepare materials for hearings and court proceedings
📢 Public Education & Outreach
Educate residents on city codes and animal regulations
Provide resources on responsible pet ownership and property care
Engage the community to foster voluntary compliance
🤝 Collaboration with City Departments
Work with Police, Planning, and Public Works on overlapping issues
