The History of the Buhl Guns vs. Hoses Softball Game

The Buhl Guns vs. Hoses Softball Game has become a cherished annual tradition in our community, showcasing not only the camaraderie between the Buhl Police Department and the Buhl Fire Department but also our shared commitment to supporting local students. This friendly yet competitive game began in 2021 as a simple way to bring the departments together for some off-duty fun but quickly evolved into something much more meaningful.

Recognizing a growing need to invest in the future of our community’s youth, both departments turned their friendly rivalry into a fundraiser. Since its inception, the Guns vs. Hoses game has raised over $10,500, funding more than three scholarships for deserving students in Buhl. These scholarships have helped alleviate financial barriers, opening doors for the next generation to pursue higher education and achieve their dreams.

Over the years, the event has grown in popularity, drawing larger crowds each year. Held in a festive, family-friendly environment, the game offers not just an exciting matchup on the field but also food, raffles, and community-building activities. Spectators come together to cheer on their favorite team—Team Guns or Team Hoses—all while contributing to a great cause.

While the rivalry between the police and fire departments remains playful and spirited, the ultimate winner is always the community itself. The funds raised through this event continue to make a lasting impact on our students and our town, reinforcing the importance of unity and service.
